The Department of Accounting and Business Administration was founded in 1965 under the Faculty of Social Sciences to assume the responsibility for the instruction of accountancy and business administration courses. The first batch of its graduates was rewarded the Bachelor of Arts (Accountancy) in 1969. To comply with other educational institutions producing the graduates in the Accountancy Program, the Degree’s title was changed to the Bachelor of Accountancy in 1982. In 1992, the Department of Accounting and Business Administration was then promoted to be the Department of Accounting under the Faculty of Business administration pursuant to the Royal Decree on the Establishment of Chiang Mai University, Ministry of University Affairs (Issue No.3) B.E.2535 (1992)
